a weekend from my weekend

sense :: sight // obsessively tracking packages

The weekend was lovely, don’t get me wrong, but man I could have used another day to spend in bed.

Friday night I found out that my precious shipped, and I’ve been obsessively tracking it ever since. Don’t worry, as soon as it arrives, I’ll do the whole unpacking photo shoot and all that other awesome geekliness that you’ve come to expect from me.

In the meantime, I got a new system I won in our company’s surplus equipment lottery that I’ll probably use as a backup system-that’ll keep me busy for a while. That and a pair of new motherboards to repair the computers that are sitting under my workbench doing nothing should keep me in geek heaven for a good long while. The geek in me is incredibly happy.

Saturday was a nice, laid back day; we pretty much relaxed and hung around the house, but Sunday we got up, got ourselves together, and headed downtown to the Tidal Basin to see the cherry blossoms, even though it was a little chilly and they weren’t totally in bloom yet. I got some decent pictures, like I do every year, and we might try to get back down there next weekend when the the cherry trees are in full bloom. We were lucky there weren’t nearly as many people down there this weekend as usual, so among getting a picture of the two of us taken by a very friendly woman who was cleaning up the walkways, Raevyn finding a buck-fifty in quarters on the ground, and meeting some nice tourists from Crystal City that we walked back from the Washington Monument to the Metro station with, it was definitely a good time. I’ll try to get photos of the adventure up at photowerks soon.

All in all, definitely a good trip, although I’m still tired today.
