So it’s Monday, and there was network maintenance over the weekend, which essentially means that the net admins, who only come out of their hovels to do middle-of-the-night network work on the infrastructure, (for which I’m actually glad-we have gigabit ethernet) left me a bunch of clean up werk to do now that they’ve upgraded the equipment in our network cloests; a couple of networked printing devices (one a huge Canon multifunction piece of crap and the other a pretty decent HP printer) are both out of comission. Joy. Anyway, things have calmed down a bit, even if both of those devices aren’t working right now, so I can’t complain really. Things are pretty nice and quiet for the time being, although I’m hungry as all getout and I’m trying to figure out where to get lunch.
In other news, a friend passed along this hilarious link that was as frightening as it was entertaining-I was showing Raevyn and while we were both grateful that the guy is alive and well, and we were entertained by the gun-toting wierdo that happens to live next door to him, it reminded me that these are the kinds of things you have to deal with when you live in wall-contact with someone else, even if you own your own condo or townhouse. Lucky for us, we’re renting our townhouse, but the only time you can really get away from it is to own your own home, one with at least some good measure of yard around it.
Over at Lifehacker, one of the editors just completely redid his home office, and it’s amazing. They’re even having a contest to show off the coolest home offices and workspaces, and I’m definitely going to tidy up my own desk and such and go ahead and enter, although I have to admit my home office isn’t horribly “efficient,” what with the TV and DVD player in the corner to the right of my desk-but then again, I don’t get to work from home, although I’d definitely love to. Either way, it’s an excuse to clean up and tidy my desk area.
In other news, the weekend was absolutely wonderful, and Saturday we managed to get up to Baltimore to eat at the Paper Moon Diner that we haven’t been to in way too long, and let me tell you, the Machos Nachos are still as delicious as they’ve always been. If you’re ever in town and looking for an absolutely delicious plate of nachos, definitely hit the Paper Moon. The rest of the weekend was delightfully relaxing, although over entirely too quickly. What’s with this whole 5 days on-2 days off thing anyway? I’d be much happier if it were the other way around, personally.
you do know that paper moon is 15 minutes from the house, yes? we were up to nothing, NOTHING that night. i’m just saying, if you gonna make the drive, hit up that phone!
No worries! next time we’ll definitely call you guys up! It was late when we were in town last time (I emailed you) but next time don’t you worry, we’ll ring you!
lovely mannequin friends with flowers, I see . . .
There are indeed! Many many mannequins keep the patrons silent but quality company at the Paper Moon. 🙂 I have some pictures on my phone, now I just have to upload them somewhere…
