So I’m trying to really get into the wild wild world of RSS in order to let the net come to me instead of forcing me to go to the net. And while I read some feeds in Google Desktop, I wanted to take the full on plunge and find a feedreader that would aggregate everything, and keep it up to date for me without me having to refresh it. I’ve heard wonderful things about NetNewsWire, which I could definitely give a try, but I’ll need something for my PC as well, and I’ve heard good things about SharpReader for windows. I opened a BlogLines account and configured it, but it seems kind of clunky and annoying to use, with a lack of customization options (for example, just because I read an article doesn’t mean I want it to vanish-just don’t show it as read!) I’ve been wading through the suggestions in this LifeHacker post, but I’m a little overwhelmed. Any suggestions from out there in geekland?
In other news, these gaming rooms rock. I mean, I seriously wish my living room were decked out with some of this gear, but then again, these are the contenders for Kotaku’s Ultimate Game Room Contest, so I should have figured I’d see good ones. There are a few in there of some bathroom-based gaming devices, which while amusing, I think I can pass over.
This story about the thankfulness of a whale that was trapped and wieghed down by hundreds of pounds of crab and fishing lines that, after being cut free by the people who saw her in distress, actually swam about in circles, then came back to individually thank each person who had helped her, was probably the most heartwarming thing I’ve read in a very very long time. I’m so happy it’s a true story-for some reason, it’s one of those stories that really really hits me.
Speaking of animals, this is a huge bunny. (But he’s still so adorable!)
Reading this post, and the previous one (5 Blade Madness) was like opening two Christmas stockings this morning . . . thank you. If you have an RSS ephiphany, please tell us about it. So far I liken it to driving an automatic transmission —
Love that Family Size Bunny.
I’m glad! It makes me happy that these ramblings are entertaining, if not to say enjoyable. ^^;;
As for RSS, I can definitely see the merits of something like Bloglines, it’s a website and you can have your subscriptions wherever you go on any computer, which is nice, but it would help if it weren’t so darned UGLY, and aesthetics matter to me-a tool is useless to me if I hate holding it in my hand, so I’m on the lookout for alternatives. 🙂 I’ll keep you posted!
I love his little (well…not so little) padded feet!
