It’s a shame there aren’t very many Wawas down here. I looked around to see if there were any nearby, and it looks like the closest one to where I live actually is in College Park, Maryland-where I used to go to school. Damned shame. I made sure that I stopped by a Wawa on the way back to Maryland, get a sub made, and I ate it for dinner once we got home. Delicious.
It was a lovely long weekend. We took Monday off because our good friends Vik and Jess were married on Sunday, and we had to be in town for that, so the bulk of the weekend was spent in the Philadelphia area. Friday we got home, grocery shopped relatively quickly, and settled in for the night-Saturday we slept in, got up incredibly late, and got ourselves together and on the road only to get in town up near Philly around 10:30pm Saturday night. We got ourselves set up in Raevyn’s mom’s place, grabbed something to eat, and settled in for the night, since we had to be up early the next day for the wedding. One thing though, that was absolutely amazing-finally, finally, I found an open wireless network up there. The last several times I went up there we were stranded without our precious precious internet, and I wasn’t expecting much else this time around, but not only was there one open wireless network, but two-and two more that were secure. Absolutely glorious. And yes, I’m completely addicted to the internet.
We got up way too early and met up also way too early (10:30am for a 12:30pm wedding!) for the wedding, but passed the time with good friends and good conversation, all swanked up for the big event. Sunday was a gorgeous day for a wedding-the sun was out, a breeze was blowing, and the green was soft and cushy, and both the bride and groom looked absolutely fantastic. It really was a beautiful wedding, and the reception was a blast as well. The whole event was early, the wedding was an amazing 15 minutes, and the reception a good solid 5 hours-everyone was out by about 6:30pm, toshed or not. Perfect for a sunday wedding. After the wedding, we headed over to Sean and Jenniah’s place (the former, Sean, of Letters from a Tapehead fame) because the two of them had managed to get a hold of two crates full of records that they were thinking about selling and wanted to know if I wanted any of-so I spent a good hour digging through the crates and pulled out a pretty sizable stack for which I’m incredibly grateful. I’ve only listened to a few so far (I literally got home yesterday after driving back, tossed my bags down, and turned on the turntables) but so far, so good. I’m thrilled. There are mixes brewing in my head begging to get out.
The question now is do I redesign Plastic Bohemia first, or make a mix and then redesign?
After the festivities on Saturday, we hit the diner, grabbed some food, and all retired for the evening around midnight. We slept good and long, and slept in on Monday-made our way back to town easily and lazily, stopping when we felt like it and grabbing food as we chose-it’s nice to not be in any particular hurry to get around.
Only down side? We turned the AC off at home while we were away to save money on power, and apparently it was a pretty hot weekend, the plants were thrilled and grew massively over the course of the three days, the peaches we had bought on Friday rotted, and by the time we got up and got ready for werk this morning the place was still hot.
Here’s hoping it’s cooler when we get home, since I’m sensing a definite early bed night.
15 minute wedding; 5 hour reception . . . ::chuckles::
I’m dying to know what some of the best records were.
::grin:: It was a lot of fun! Open bar, too. 😉
I have so many white labels out of the stack of records, I need to listen pretty closely to see if I can find out what they are or if they were even widely released.
I so want to hear them.
And learn more about the concept of people having fun at weddings/receptions.
^^ I’ll start in on a mix just for you!
…and I’m sensing a story behind this comment somewhere, hmm?
